Matthew Crews delivers a unique experience for clients given his diverse background and independent approach. Matthew has been with Smith Patrick Financial Advisors, LLC since inception in September 2011. He most recently completed the exam requirement for obtaining the CFP mark.

Prior to joining Smith Patrick and working with David Smith, Matthew was an Equity Research Analyst for Noble Financial Group and A.G. Edwards. Over that time he gained valuable insight into the institutional process for money management and the interaction of research with the investment process. Matthew focused primarily on the Cleantech Energy Storage space and followed companies such as A123 Systems, Active Power, Ballard Power, EnerSys, Exide Technologies, Fuel Cell Energy, and Maxwell Technologies.

Previous to joining A.G. Edwards in 2007, Matthew wrote investment-related articles for the Motley Fool. He has picked the virtual pen up again and can now be found writing about investment related topics at Seeking Alpha.

Before embarking on a finance career and entering the CFA program, Matthew owned and operated a small specialty retail business in Peterborough, New Hampshire (1997-2004) for bicycles and snowboards. Matthew considers the experience fruitful and worthy of an MBA from the School of Hard Knocks.

While Matthew’s passion is with investing, he is also an avid cyclist and can on occasion be seen at local racing events. Matthew is married to Tara Crews and has two sons Owen and Brendan.
